The Department of Public Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka have conferred an Award of “Excellent Leadership Service Award” on the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom.

The Management and Department of Public Administration, Unizik said the Award was in recognition and appreciation of Hon Amaka immense contribution and unflinching support and her great achievements in leadership and service to humanity. 


The Council, Management, NULGE and Entire Staff of Idemili South Local Government, Ojoto also gave kudos to the T.C Chairman for her leadership and proactive measure employed to bring forth rapid changes and transformation in the council area.


The message read in parts; 


We heartily felicitate with our dynamic, amiable and hardworking T.C Chairman, Hon Mrs Amaka Obi (Iyom Idemili) on the conferment of EXCELLENT LEADERSHIP SERVICE AWARD by the Department of Public Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. 


Iyom Global, Ada eji-eje mba, Nwanyi bu ife, your record in the transformation of Idemili South Local Government in all sector's of the economy is unprecedented.

In their separate speeches, the Head of Local Government Administration Idemili South, Hon Anazodo Kevin O.C and the Deputy Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon Engr Ebuka Smart Nriama noted that Hon Amaka Obi had distinguished herself in service to the people and described her approach to governance as a model that should be emulated. 


Also speaking, the Secretary of Idemili South Hon Ofido Evaristus Omega and the Head personnel Management Olieh A.I JP. FCPA  said Hon Amaka unalloyed passion for the workers of Idemili South and the good people of Idemili South has fostered a good working relationship between her and the workers and has impressed in other aspects of governance, including infrastructures, security and economy.


On his side, Comr Innocent Edoziuno the NULGE, Chairman praised the dexterity of the Leadership Services of Hon Amaka noting that the award reflects everything that the Council Chairman stand for in service to humanity and wish her well in future endeavors.


Responding, Hon Obi while thanking them for the gesture, commended them for contributing towards developing Idemili South of our dream and tasked them to be part of the present efforts. 


She equally thanked the Management of the Department of Public Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for finding her worthy of the award and noted that the honour would spur her to do more in service to humanity.


Hon Amaka dedicated the award to residents of Idemili South for the support extended to her administration and their resilience in the face of economic challenges and global recession.


Cutting of  cake, music and dance climaxed the event which took place at the Local Government Headquarters, Ojoto.

 World Sight Day: Hon. Amaka Obi Advise Residents Of Idemili South On Eye Care. By Mma Okpala  The convener of Women Initiatives For Greater Anambra(WIGA) who doubled as the Transition Committee Chairman Of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi(Iyom Ife-Abata) has advised people of Idemili South on eye care as they celebrates World Sight Day today.  Idemili South Council Boss, Hon. Amaka Obi said that, people should love their eyes by avoiding poor diet, abuse of drugs, alcohol and ensure they have a yearly checkup from an eye medical doctor from the age of 40. Iyom Ife-Abata who earlier offered free medical outreach stated that loving one's eye involves the people obeying the dos and don'ts for good eyesight, including avoidance of smoking, herbal preparations due to adulteration of alcohol, diets and fruits.
