Polio Immunization: Get your child vaccinated against poliovirus, Idemili South Council Chair, Amaka Obi urges residents

The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, *(Hon Obi Amaka Iyom Idemili)* has appealed to communities in the area to make their children available to health workers for polio immunization.


Hon Amaka also urged traditional rulers, community leaders, Stakeholders, organisations, individuals, and families to join in mobilizing mothers and caregivers to take their children for immunization.


Speaking about the immunization, she said the immunization, which began on Friday, is meant to boost Governor Soludo commitment in ensuring Anambra children are safe and healthy.


*Hon Amaka explained that all parents especially those with children aged 5 or under – are being encouraged to ensure their young ones are vaccinated against polio.*


She equally noted that the polio vaccine is free and given as part of combined jabs to babies, toddlers and teenagers as part of the Government routine childhood vaccination schedule.


She further stated, that “Poliomyelitis as a preventable disease through vaccination, noting that immunization is the best protection against polio and is recommended for all infants, and children to protect them from the harmful effects of polio.
