The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom was among the recipients drawn from Idemili South and across the State for various awards at the Youth Summit of the National Youth Council of Nigeria held in Ojoto the Local Government Headquarters with the Theme: Youths And Their Critical Roles To National Development.

Hon Amaka Obi received an Award for Excellence on Youth Empowerment and Development.



The plaque and certificate of honour was presented to her by the NYCN President Idemili South Chapter, Comr Chinenye Mbah alongside Nnobi ward 3 APGA chairman, Hon Ifeanyichukwu Ekwutemma Aguh. 


The organizers noted that Hon Amaka had been closely monitored and found worthy of the award to encourage her to do more for the growth of humanity, youth empowerment and development of the society and mostly through Skills Acquisition Training.

Receiving the award, Hon Amaka said the National Youth Council of Nigeria excellence award by the Idemili South chapter was a great honour and would spur her to contribute more to the empowerment of the residents in the council area and also towards bringing development across the seven (7) communities in the council area to making it a better place to live in as envisioned by Gov Soludo Mantra of a prosperous, livable, beautiful and smart homeland.


“Hon Amaka further dedicated the award to God and to the good people of Idemili South Council Area South. My commitment for a better society knows no bounds, hence I will always made my self available for the service of mankind, she said.”


Others dignitaries present at the event were, Dr Emmanuel Anierobi Benjamin Rector Prime Polytechnic Ajaokuta and a Keynote Speaker, Madam Priscilla Onyema, Representative of NDLEA, Anambra state controller, Comr IKC Onuora, Deputy chairman NYCN Anambra state, Deputy Mayor of Idemili South, Hon Ebuka Smart Nriama amongst others.

 World Sight Day: Hon. Amaka Obi Advise Residents Of Idemili South On Eye Care. By Mma Okpala  The convener of Women Initiatives For Greater Anambra(WIGA) who doubled as the Transition Committee Chairman Of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi(Iyom Ife-Abata) has advised people of Idemili South on eye care as they celebrates World Sight Day today.  Idemili South Council Boss, Hon. Amaka Obi said that, people should love their eyes by avoiding poor diet, abuse of drugs, alcohol and ensure they have a yearly checkup from an eye medical doctor from the age of 40. Iyom Ife-Abata who earlier offered free medical outreach stated that loving one's eye involves the people obeying the dos and don'ts for good eyesight, including avoidance of smoking, herbal preparations due to adulteration of alcohol, diets and fruits.
