Idemili South Council Chair, Amaka Obi Assures of Clean, Green And Sustainable Environment

.....residents intensifies effort on monthly sanitation

The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom  has assured residents in the council area of a clean, green and sustainable environment as envisioned by Gov Soludo led administration.

Hon Amaka made this known while addressing newsmen at monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

According to her, the mandate of her office includes affairs of the various communities in the council area and the people should take  seriously, the responsibility of cleaning their environment for a heathier living.

She noted that “God has given us the responsibility to look after our environment; if we as a people can live by the tenets of our religious beliefs, then Anambra will become sustainably clean.

Hon Amaka warned the general public to desist from dumping waste on the road median, public drainages (gutter), open spaces, or any unauthorised places besides the designated spots in the communities.

Also speaking the Youth President of Nnobi community, Amb Chiagoziem Akonu, commended Gov Soludo for the SUSTAINABLE CLEAN AND GREEN ANAMBRA STATE. 

He said individuals are expected to clean their surroundings, cut the grasses and clear drains to ensure free-flowing of waters to prevent flooding and transmission of diseases.

He equally appealed to the people to make sanitation a continuous habit by keeping their environment clean and green always because, ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness.


The environmental sanitation exercise also witnessed palliative work on the failed portion of Nnobi - Nnokwa - Agulu road.

 World Sight Day: Hon. Amaka Obi Advise Residents Of Idemili South On Eye Care. By Mma Okpala  The convener of Women Initiatives For Greater Anambra(WIGA) who doubled as the Transition Committee Chairman Of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi(Iyom Ife-Abata) has advised people of Idemili South on eye care as they celebrates World Sight Day today.  Idemili South Council Boss, Hon. Amaka Obi said that, people should love their eyes by avoiding poor diet, abuse of drugs, alcohol and ensure they have a yearly checkup from an eye medical doctor from the age of 40. Iyom Ife-Abata who earlier offered free medical outreach stated that loving one's eye involves the people obeying the dos and don'ts for good eyesight, including avoidance of smoking, herbal preparations due to adulteration of alcohol, diets and fruits.
