The philanthropist  urged  the youth in the country to be innovative, industrious and focused  in actualising their  goals.

He made the call while speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Monday on the the occasion of the 2024 International Youth Day celebration.

The International Youth Day is annually celebrated on Aug. 12 around the globe to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potentials of youth as partners in today’s global society.

The theme for the 2024 celebration is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."

Digitalisation is reshaping our world, providing unparalleled opportunities to fast-track sustainable development.

Technologies like mobile devices, digital services, and artificial intelligence play a crucial role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The data generated from digital interactions fuels evidence-based decision-making.

Chief Ezeonu, who said that the International Youth Day is a day set aside to celebrate youth,  added that it would also reaffirm global commitment toward finding solutions to their challenges.

He equally remarked that he is not a politician but as a well meaning Nigerian sensitive to the needs of young people, "I deemed it necessary to celebrate the youth".

He noted that there was need for leaders to collaborate and provide youth with digital pathways for sustainable development and   partner with youth to ensure no one is left behind.

According to him, the youth population in the country is massive, hence the need for them to explore ways and be innovative.

Speaking further, he said that “today, I wish to felicitate heartily with the young people around the world, particularly Nigerian youth on the 2024 occasion of the International Youth Day.

“The theme is to achieve the sustainable Developmental Goals and leverage on full potential digital pathways for all generations.

Innovative, industrious and focused across generations is the key for sustainable development.

“Youth involvement has moved forward tremendously and it’s no longer seen as a rebellious act, the way it was few decades

ago.”

He added that :“as a fellow youth, one of my priorities is the inclusion of youth in governance, where their potential would be seen in political, economic and entrepreneurial activities.

“As we mark this special day, I look forward to see the youth being  innovative, industrious and focused to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

“The youths are `change makers ’ and their contributions are essential toward the growth and development of this country.”
