The good people of Ojoto Community on Wednesday, celebrated the road linking St Paul's Catholic Church from Oba-Nnewi old road to Oba-Nnewi new road, attracted by an illustrious son of the community, Engr Felix Ebuzoeme under the special intervention project of the federal ministry of works and housing, Abuja to serve as an easement, to create access to the different localities and open up the area for more development. 


Stakeholders, elders, women and youths from the community thronged the venue of the commissioning at Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, singing and dancing over the construction of a road that connected the new and old road. 


The Mayor of Idemili South, Hon Amaka Obi who performed the commissioning of the road noted that Engr Felix is among the illustrious sons of Idemili who had heed the call of the Think Home Philosophy- 'Aku luo Uno'. 


She commended Engr Felix for facilitating the construction of the 300 meters road, 

said she is happy that well-to-do individuals in the council area is making use if their contacts and connection to develop the area.


Hon Amaka calls on ndi Idemili in diaspora to bring home their wealth noting that the need and essence of Aku luo Uno could not be undermined. 


The Mayor explained that the project will enhance connectivity, facilitate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for residents.


Speaking on behalf of the youths, Nze Uchenna Oforlie, said the completion of the road has led to the community wearing a new look, applauded Engr Felix Ebuzoeme for his magnanimity. 


Similarly, Hon Amaka inspected the construction of a 1.2Km road in Ojoto community which extend to Nnewi-Oba old road. The road is being constructed by a prominent stakeholder and illustrious son of the community, Ambassador Chinedu Okonkwo popularly known as (C-Success).

 

The Mayor, while inspecting the road project, noted that the road construction is one of the output of the Public Private Community Partnership of Gov. Soludo led administration which marks a significant stride towards complementing the efforts of the Governor's administration on rural development and highlighted the strategic importance of the project, which she said aligns with the state’s broader vision of improving rural access, industrialization and agricultural marketing.


The Mayor, reiterate her leadership commitment to open up the council area expressed satisfaction with the level of the extensive earthworks that had been done. 


She commended Amb. Chinedu Okonkwo for embarking on the road construction. She also announced that she would soon award 'Honounary Award' to illustrious sons of Idemili who have constructed roads in their various communities. 


She equally urged the contractor handling the project to maintain the standard in place for the roads to stand the test of time and also to complete the projects within the stipulated time and design specifications, and she called on host community to support and protect the heavy construction equipment, she added. 


Also speaking, the contractor handling the project, Engr Obinna Akolonye of Royal Akons Construction Ltd explained that the road construction namely; Nze Augustine Nwafor, Chinwa road, C–Succes Avenue and Ikeanyionwu Drive is been financed cum executed single handedly by Amb Chinedu Okonkwo. 


In their respective remarks, the deputy Mayor of Idemili South L.G, Hon Ifeanyi Anakuba, Councilor of Ojoto ward, Hon Chibueze Okoli, the Community Youth leader of Ojoto Akanasato, Comr Samuel Mbanefo, APGA contacts and mobilization chairman, Chief Prince Dozie Okafor, noted that the project aligns with the Gov Soludo 'PPCP Model' call on more stakeholders to key into the initiative to revolutionise rural infrastructure for rapid development in order to demonstrate the major stakeholders commitment to the people’s well-being.
